Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853–1890) The Night Café (Le café de nuit), 1888
Vincent van Gogh often rejected the naturalism of Impressionism in favour of bold, intense colors that conveyed emotion. The Night Café portrays a scene just past midnight, with just a few patrons remaining huddled around their respective tables—all but one, that is, who stands ready for another game of billiards, if anyone was willing.
WARNING: Choking hazard—small parts. Not suitable for children under 3 years.
